Linux Novell Tool Virtualization Web Bydleni IQ is a fresh Internet magazine related to architecture, living and design. OpenLab Ltd. mission was to create website using existing graphical design by company’s designer. We decided to s WordPress as platform for this unique site, mainly because of speed of development as well as lowering project price for this starting project. Customization was quite a challenge because of complex design and structure. Besides visual customizations, we developed two custom plugins for adds and related content.
Project Web WordPress I am working with web for a quite a few years. I am a bit scared to count it.
And from time to time I am still making webs
Heh… Yep, I made dozens of webs during all these years, even that I am not classic web developer last a few years. These days I am working only for about 20% of my time on web sites. Basics for me is LAMP stack and WordPress (and of course my love Erlang in latest months) for a lot of sites. It is really powerful web platform and it is also an open source project with big user community and tons of plugins and templates. This is due to a simplicity approach to everything. Code is a poetry.
Open Source Platform Web WordPress After two years of using FeedDemon as my primary feed reader application I moved to Google Reader. I know Google Reader for quite a long time, but did not use it because… well I was happy user of FeedDemon, because of it is desktop client with interesting features as well as web interface (that was a bit disappointing in comparison to desktop version). But after more than a year of using FeedDemon I felt little bit confused about reason why I am using exactly this application.
feed FeedDemon Google Web Well intelligent topic indeed
But seriously, I was quite surprised by some headline on some web developer site. It was about how to do tables without tables.. yes it just sounds strange. Well there was a full tutorial about creating table without using table element, just using div elements. I did not get it! It is like… creating design with tables.
HTML semantic web Web XHTML Yes, yes I like the way Douglas Crockford talks about AJAX and JavaScript. Especially his last talk about AJAX Performance. I think that it is essential for every web developer to see/read this presentation.
AJAX Javascript talk Web I just came across this interesting utility for all JavaScript developers.
From its website:
Taffy DB is a free and open source JavaScript library that acts as thin data layer inside Web 2.0 and AJAX applications.
What makes it cool:
- Under 10K!
- Simple, JavaScript Centric Syntax
- Fast
- Easy to include in any web application
- Compatible with major AJAX libraries: YUI, JQuery, Dojo, Prototype, EXT, etc
- CRUD Interface (Create, Read, Update, Delete)
- Sorting
- Looping
- Advanced Queries
Javascript Utility Web Because I am WordPress fan and partly developer too (but not so active these days) I run and maintain multiple WP installations. Some of them are fully maintained by me, other only partly. There are also sites that are maintained by my friends and I am time from time helping them with WP issues or customization. It is great that more and more people are using this great blog/personal site engine. And with new features from version 2.5 and older? I think these features and usability improvements will gain more and more users to WordPress.
Selected sites that I am responsible for (not content)
Selected sites that I am supporting time from time:
Open Source Web WordPress Well I announced my personal WP Weekend, couple of weeks ago. And if you noticed it you are maybe curious about its results or outputs. I did some migration for WP 2.5.1 for all webs that I am running and maintaining and it also forced me to upgrade all plugins that I made (not only that public ones;)). It was quite a loot of work, but I did it. Work is not complete yet, because there are 2 more plugins left for migration. I believe that I will release new versions of my public plugin this weekend. Please if you are interested return in a three or four days for updates.
Happy blogging
migration Plugins Release Web WordPress How will my page render on browser XYZ? I am afraid all people that are somehow connected with web development know that question. Yes it is shame that browser compatibility is still so bad. Maybe I could use other words… but now you can find some help not from browser vendors, but from great open source project – www.browsershots.org. It is great site written using python and I think it is more than helpful for web developers. Take a look for yourself, I guess domain name speaks for it self.
