Really intersting article about software development from Bjarne Stroustrup(C++ inventor)

January 19th, 2007 by Martin

I was really happy that I am not alone on current state of software development. I am thinking about this problem nearly every day! I have been developing software for nearly ten years through all different languages and platforms, but I have to say that I must agree with Bjarne Stroustrup on his view. If you are real born developer who love construction challenges and employed as professional programmer I think you should read this article for sure. I know that our world is only about making money and be profitable, but what about quality, perfection and elegance. NOBODY will pay it these day :( . That is really sad reality, but for me there is an alternative – open source projects! Or maybe at Google? :)

Very interesting post on Agile from Steve Yegge

October 3rd, 2006 by Martin

Steve Yegge wrote a post about Agile's good and bad practices… I think if you are interesting in software development methodologies you should definitely read it (if you already didn't ;) ). For me it was also interesting to read about Google inside development processes… Point your browser here to read full post.

Programming Language Trends

August 6th, 2006 by Martin

O'Reilly Radar wrote about the 3-year programming language market share trend based on computer book sales. It shows some slow decline of Java and C/C++, and the continuing rise in market share of C# (especialy after .NET 2.0). You can see how Ruby's sharp ascent follows the introduction of Rails, and that PHP's fortunes reversed before book sales showed that web developers in search of rapid development languages moved over to ROR (and Microsoft's ASP.Net suite of technologies).
