Red RC – RC Car News just published announcement that Hitec have released a new servo HS-82 as a replacement for the HS-81. According to specs it should be faster, more precise and other mores… As Hitec user (not only for servos) I am really looking forward to test it 
. I use HS-81 in my Mini Inferno ST and I think it is already strong and fast enough 
. So why not test better one .

It is more than month when I wrote last post about my ST. I had a lot of fun and also some crashes But it was really great time. I did couple of modifications from my previous post. I also had to replace my central differential from 3Racing, because a small stone. It damaged gears quite a lot 
. From that accident I decided to create custom cover for central differential. I also changed front and rear shock towers from 3Racing. I had more hop ups from 3R on its way to my car . I can not wait to set it up.
Because I had problems with dirt and especially with small stones, I decided to make special custom covers for central differential and maybe some more. You can see this cover on pictures bellow. It is made from aluminum and it was brushed to metallic blue. I glued it to original transparent central differential cover. It is not optimal yet, but it definitely helped me.
Because it is raining these days, I did a lot of setup and general maintenance service. I cleared everything, add new grease to differentials, changed oil in shocks. I added more dense oil – 1000 cps Protech. I wanted to test how it works, but there is to much water and mud. Maybe I will test it only on tarmac, to see how it behaves and do final setup tuning.

Well after some time of experimenting and tuning my ST(Stadium Truck) my car is not stock anymore . I changed more than I wanted (I burn my original 2in1 Koyosho receiver). Yes it was a very hot day and I tested new engine – Graupner Speed 400 6v… So decided to change car electronics. But that is not all I also ordered couple of tuning parts from 3Racing and especially change of central differential and gears improved performance significantly. Last change was new engine MIG 400 6V (recommended by Jamie) now with Ansmann Racing heat sink.
There is a lot of possibilities, but I decided to use Hitec products (HP-2RNB – 2 channel 27Mhz AM receiver and EZX-Reversible High Frequency ESC – Sport). Because I had to change steering servo couple of weeks ago I use my HS-85MG Ball Bearing Micro Servo. So that was complete change to stock model. I also changed all wires to more stronger one as well as connectors. Now I am using standard and mini Tamiya connectors for engine and power packs. It was quite simple to setup it all. Find optimal positions for each component and wire. After couple of experiments everything work perfectly.
Yes I bought couple of them and other couple of them is hopefully on their way to me . So I give you here full list of part I already have now. Mostly from 3Racing (only wing is from Koyosho, heat sink from Ansmann Racing and TOPCAR motor mount):
As I said before, there are more parts to come, because I have to work on weight and especially endurance of my car. I know that there is also a lot of things to improve on my chassis setup too .
Except improving my driving skills I want to change my original MI tires to some more cool looking. After some research I did not find any for my half8 category. Only one change is to use adapters for 1:10 tires. So I ordered one from 3Racing. If they arrive (out of stock for some time) it will be really interesting to find some light cool tire for my ST . There are more things to say (like about my custom tuning parts – I will write a separate post about it later), but I expect you are looking also for some photos now .

Well, I know that it is quite short time after buying stock product, but I think that you know kind of feeling when you want to something more… But that was not my motivation (not at this time). I simply wanted to improve performance by small upgrades and I also crashed and destroyed my steering servo.
I was looking around shops to buy new one, but no one had it on the store. I decided that I do not want to wait (I was informed about 1 or 2 weeks delivery) for another expensive plastic servo from Kyosho. After searching web, I came across post describing servo upgrade using Hitec servos – HS-81/85 MG(Metal Gear). I recommend you MG version, because it cames with metal gear that you can not destroy . Both servos are strong and fast enough. I thing you will see for your self how steering performance grow. So how was it done. First you should prepare new servo mount for Hitec servos. It is included with other mounts in bag of spares. We are looking for mount H. After replacing mount with new one we are ready to start working on new servo hardware modification. As you maybe noticed, original Kyosho servo has one more wire than the new one. Now comes the tricky part. It is not difficult, but it requires some basic electro technical skills and equipment. Yes, my dream from childhood came into real. I bought my own RC car – Mini Inferno ST. This half8 came with some basic tuning like oil shocks, bearing and better deferential. It really helps, especially oil shocks are essential for smooth driving. I was practicing this weekend and have to say that with Nosram Vtec 2700 batteries you can do amazing things in terrain.
I really like its performance and aggressive rough style. Unfortunately I made a small crash today and my steering servo is out of order now . Hope all will be fine soon, because I did not take any phot0 or movie and I want to show you some tricks . Order with spares and some tuning hop-up parts is hopefully on it’s way to me Can’t wait for next driving….
