Microsoft has its head deep in sand!

I am long term Windows developer (not only of course). I always tried to be fair and objective when I was talking about Microsoft, Linux, Open Source and such topics…  But today I came about this link. It was classical example of total ignorance that will lead to dead of company in a long terms. Not now, not tomorrow, but will die in a few years from now. I felt really sad while I was reading that lies. I know it is not about technology, it is about business and money ;) . Thank you very much, I prefer different world.

Why good task should be S.M.A.R.T!

To be smart is not enough these days. Our perception is limited to supplied information and its accuracy. And software project success raise and fails with accuracy and level of problem/domain specification.  Whenever I am faced with some task, I am asking myself: “Is it S.M.A.R.T.?”.  It does not matter whether I am describing task to someone else or I received this task from someone else.

Power of UNIX

I found a very nice quote from Ken Thompson and Dennis Ritchie, fathers  of UNIX, that I really like:

A powerful operating system for interactive use need not be expensive either in equipment or in human effort. We hope that users of Unix will find that the most important characteristics of the system are its simplicity, elegance, and ease of use.

There is no need to say anything more to that… That is why I prefer Linux and other UNIX based systems.

PHPMyAdmin Error #1030 – Got error 28 from storage engine?

While working with PHPMyAdmin I saw following message on my screen.

#1030 - Got error 28 from storage engine?

Well, I was afraid what is wrong, but it is very simple. You are out of space! So hurry and clean up your disks before something fail (and setup an notifications or SMTP agent on it ;) ).
