IE7 is coming this month…Em I ready?

October 12th, 2006 by Martin

Well I have to say that I am not regular IE user anymore… I choose something else… something different :) Ok that for a prologue ;) I downloaded IE7 RC1 mainly for testing purposes. I have multiple browser installations to test my web projects and such… But after installation and obvious reboot I can not display any site without crashing my brand new IE :-D . So that is all from my testing experience with IE7 RC1 :( . I do not know what is wrong and I do not have spare time to solve it. My conclusion from this experiment is – I am not ready for IE7 (even I have all MS patches ;)

A small update to this post. Microsoft released a Toolkit to Disable Automatic Delivery of Internet Explorer 7 . I think it was released because of system  administrators to prevent problems with internal IE based applications.

Back to Sharepoint…

October 8th, 2006 by Martin

Well after some time with MS Commerce server and playing with ASP.NET 2.0 (and hellish Crystal Reports ;) ) I am back to Sharepoint. After small break I am currently working on intranet project… I played with some common functionality for Sharepoint projects like logging/exception monitoring for various types of controls (WebParts, WebControls and UserControls) to solve our problems once for all ;) . I also played with OWSControls to be able to use them within our custom controls. But that is for 'old' version of Sharepoint, but version 2007 is knocking on the door :) so I am going to Sharepoint 2007 training this week(I am really looking forward to see something new :) ).

Very interesting post on Agile from Steve Yegge

October 3rd, 2006 by Martin

Steve Yegge wrote a post about Agile's good and bad practices… I think if you are interesting in software development methodologies you should definitely read it (if you already didn't ;) ). For me it was also interesting to read about Google inside development processes… Point your browser here to read full post.

New bug tracking system for my projects

October 3rd, 2006 by Martin

I installed one of key software development tool – a bug tracking system for my projects. After small research and some tests it is here. Well it is simple and fit to my hosting environment :) . I finally decided for Eventum by MySQL, but for some unspecified period of time I will be using Mantis project ;) . To functionality. If you have any issue or bug, just register and report it :). Well that was in short…

Bug tracking system is for support of the following projects (updated list):

  • WP-Plugin List
  • WP-Outage
  • WP-Custom Logo
